he also needs to do fucking art again, i feel like he hasn't in literal years aside from diagrams and shit and that's sad.
he needs to talk more about the fucked-up shit in his life, he avoids that so hard but avoiding it and handling it all alone is so bad for him.
relatedly, i desperately want him to have more crosscanon friends that he's close enough to that he can at least open up a tiny bit. for the sake of tangible goals i want him to make one (1) new potential good friend every two months, assuming we have the playerbase for it.
friends who are kids!! kid friends. he's weirdly good with kids/teens.
someone teach him the word 'yeet'. possibly also 'kobe'.
i want him to figure out some kind of, like... job?? maybe he can start making talismans for people. idk.
i have so many top-levels that i could turn in for personal horrors, i need to actually do that and i think he's the one i want to inflict it on.
i want to find him some kind of library/textbooks/idek that he can nerd out about, and/or get him back into inventing shit. i love how half of this list is Get Wei Ying Back Into His Hobbies/Passions
pull his head out of his ass re: lan wangji, that needs to happen before the end of 2021.... /hollow laughter

ideally he becomes somewhat known as A Guy To Look To For Help, because that's basically his role in life as far as he's concerned.
he's starting to meditate in non-cabin places, so he should make meditation pals. he'll teach you if he has to. it's good for the soul. (yes, you have one, he promises.)
i want him to have technology mishaps, he's smart but also a lot less innovative than wei wuxian is so i feel like he's the go-to guy for ancient chinese tech fails.
he needs to learn modern slang but then use it incorrectly (with full confidence that it's correct).
i also just want this boy to laugh. he's soft but serious, just all the time.
xingchen has to get drunk at least once, it's the rules
i want opportunities for horror that alludes to his future without spoiling his future, so those who are farther ahead in canon can be horrified. eye-related stuff, throat-related stuff. it'll be great.
i want many opportunities for him to slowly realize how naive he actually is + how much the real world operates in shades of grey.
i want him to find out about how his future goes down, somehow, sometime. and then recklessly try to bargain with the technicians about it in some way because that can't happen
i want him to learn silly domestic hobbies to take seriously. crocheting, someone teach him to fucking crochet.

Once I'm back from hiatus I'm determined to get Renfri out doing things, and I feel like her and Wei Wuxian could be fun. They both have a shitty past which they cover up by pretending to be Perfectly Fine. Dunno if they'll make it to friendship unlocked but I'm definitely raising my hand to give it a shot.

Also, one thing I'm gonna steal from book girl is that she likes to sing so maybe they could teach another songs? She'll teach him bawdy tavern songs

i'd love to bounce them off of each other and see if it sticks. like pasta with a wall, but with more shitty coping strategies. and also, he'd get such a kick out of bawdy tavern songs, omg. teach him the super lewd ones, that can't possibly go wrong.

player hat, i think i'm going to toss both of my sometime-soon-incoming characters at lana to see which of my four end up sticking, because i love reading her threads and am determined to get some cr with her. which could help with the 'friends' thing.

she could also teach wwx more about modern clothes if she wants, he knows some but mostly has been limiting himself to black hoodies and slim jeans so far on the days he's not in his robes. alternatively, lwj just made the mistake of telling wwx he could dress him (since he gave his robes away for a good cause) and she could help with that, wwx jokes but in actuality he wants to find something lan zhan will sincerely hate less than the rest of it.

He needs to GET the chains first, which means he needs to die so he can canon update! So I will be looking for opportunities to off him (once I can brain log things).

I'll definitely keep Real Boy Times in mind for a future reward, if we don't get an event that will allow it. (I just spent all my saved up tag-ins on a reward for L3-37 so it'll take some time to go that route.)

YES let's do bowling. And I love the idea of starting a garden ~~and trying to keep a-jian from eating everything~~. That sounds like a great idea for spring.

I am all ears for an event that will allow Lana to blow herself up! and I am psyched to get CR with anyone you want to throw her way! I need to get some of my folks up on the catch all, but that involves reading through past event descriptions and coming up with ideas, which is more brain than I've had so far this ~~week~~ year. But if/when I do, I'll link in disco so you can eyeball it.

And I would love to do a fashion thread with Lana and Wangxian! black hoodies and slim jeans are 1000% her aesthetic (see outfit references one + two + three) so matching Lan Zhan's tastes might be an... interesting struggle but I am all for it.

re: lana blowing herself up, the simplest vague idea i had is something along the 'something's fucky in the metaphysical circumstances for a few days and everyone's magic/powers/curses/etc. are acting unpredictably' vein, possibly with more flavor to it. it would mean she could intend to do a tiny pop and end up with a giant boom. (re: the catch-all, you can absolutely skip the dream part and come back to it, or alternatively, just skip it altogether and do the later blizzard/blackout stuff!)

i already am so excited for them both to be like IT WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER TO JUST DRESS HIM IN BLACK. also: please let this be an opportunity for her to explain the concept of goth/emo clothes to him so that he can come to the realization that white is technically goth/emo and thus lwj is technically goth/emo.

re: magic, putting on my mod hat for a sec to say, you could totally use the Buy Shit page and trade your tag-ins for more magic for her, you'd get to choose whatever you wanted (or generally what you wanted + make me decide the rest, if you'd rather).

i volunteer as the recipient of said disaster in some way because wwx himself is a disaster.

he's also a great swimmer, lotus pier upbringing and all, so he could help her with that if she'd like! pls don't let him teach her to cook, though. his cooking is lethal.

he's definitely got self-esteem and self-sabotage issues that she could probably scold him about sometime. god, just generally her learning more about the fucked-up mess that is their family would probably be enough for her to pick up on some of it. strained laughter....

i'd offer a hug but he's bad at those, unless an arm draped over her shoulder sorta half-hug while they walk counts, once they're at that cr level.

Oh, believe you me darlin I will be hitting up that page sooner or later!! At the moment my reasoning is this: KH kids are, by nature of the canon, pretty stupidly OP. In the interest of allowing her to develop gradually without becoming too able to stay out of trouble due to magical ability (and so she can get into Mishaps she otherwise wouldn't because she's teaching herself) I'm exploring the types of magic she'd probably canonically be able to learn the easiest because they're just your common elemental stuff that everybody seems to know. Later on though you can rest assured I'll be abusing that feature to expand her magical capabilities so she has juuuust enough rope to hang herself (and everyone else around her), of course within modly approval. ♥

Honestly if she has a Big Disaster related to memories a cast with different canon points and characters like Untamed would probably be able to make good use if it collectively if y'all were so inclined. But yes, good, I will recall this in case she has a smaller disaster to add to his natural disaster-y inclination! Thank you for volunteering him as tribute!!

AH YES what good fortune, he would likely make an excellent swim teacher once the... you know, lake unfreezes. We'll have to figure out some way to make that happen in the future. (She had a talk with Lan Sizhui at one point about learning some cooking from him so she might be safe there unless Papa Wuxian wants to make some possibly not at all helpful contributions in the background)

Re: Untamed family shenanigans, she's been very slowly picking up bits and pieces here and there so sooner or later she'll get his number, so to speak. It's probably inevitable tbh, she already has Questions about sad-tiny-ghost-man-in-need-of-protection Wen Ning that she's been politely putting on the backburner because she's giving that whole situation the benefit of the doubt. WWX's reputation precedes him enough that she's definitely gonna be curious to figure out what's going on with his... everything and will in turn almost certainly come to realize that he requires emotional assistance like, stat.

It's fine, they can both be bad at hugs while walking next to each other because that would be adorable. It might take a while to work up to it without her being too '!!!' about it but it is! A valid goal for the future!!

NGL I have spent many a year considering how I might avail the general public with her powers since it's such a shame to restrain that versatile a plot device, so I hope to finally get the chance to really go for it in Vestige. Like, 'methinks the lady doth protest too much' rules apply here a little bit, but mostly she's just. Hoping for the best while quietly wondering what the heck is up with this Wei Wuxian guy everyone seems to know. Just wait 'til she finds out he's related to Jiang Cheng so she can put the whole time shenanigans and people from his world being dead thing together and be even more bemused about it.

SHE IS SUPER UNSURE ABOUT THE WHOLE THING because on the one hand Wen Ning seems really sweet and innocent and she's not 1000% convinced he'd realize it if someone were taking advantage of him just based on her first impression, but on the other hand she can't like. Really assume the worst about someone having that kind of power over someone else when she knows full well that SHE could totally mind-control people too if she wanted to, so it would be massively hypocritical of her to assume that anyone who does that is bad per se even though she kind of thinks of herself a villain. Basically right now she's just looking at everything going 'this could potentially be really really bad but I hope it isn't for everyone's sake so I'm gonna... keep an eye on this I guess.' Honestly she really does have a hard time reconciling that stuff with the way WWX is though, because she's definitely not getting any negative vibes from him so that's?? Going well I guess???

Honestly Winston is such a good that after being terrified for a week she'd probably start warming up to him, especially when she realizes that he is nice and kind and absolutely nothing like a lot of people she knew before going to the Academy.
