[Waking up is slow and a daze. Huaisang doesn't remember falling asleep or being in any situation he might have fainted during... pushing himself up to sit his eyes blink blearily in the darkness, trying to get used to it. Head swiveling he'll clutch his fan tight to his chest to try and feel any sense of comfort or safety, but as shadows become shapes and objects, they do little to answer where he is.
Or what's going on.]
... H-Hello?
[Cautious and some what quiet, but still hopeful maybe someone else is here. Someone that will be friend, not foe. The only thing he can really make out is a damp musky unpleasant smell, it's not heavy, but it's enough to make him wonder what condition this place is in. Pushing himself up he'll wander carefully along the room he's in, it's big and open and there appear to be chairs and other types of furniture that he can make out, but it's when he comes upon firewood stacked up near what appears to be some fire pit in the wall that he feels his luck might be getting better.
Putting some logs in the fireplace he'll light it with a fire talisman, relieved when it brings some much needed light to the place. Again, not that light makes any sense of what's going on, all he can do is look around confused at most of the things he sees. Hearing a loud creak he'll whimper, sticking close to the fire as he looks over at the doorway to another room.]
Who's there? D-Don't think you can scare me! I can fight!
[Said as he holds his folded fan up like some sort of baton. Yes. The fierce and mighty Nie Huaisang.]
2. Keep your hands teeth to yourself or so help me:
[The open door of the basement had been the only other place to look after they realized getting out wasn't going to be so simple. So with cautious curiosity Huaisang had taken a peek downstairs to see what possibilities might be there. Maybe there could be a secret tunnel!
Using a smaller piece of firewood and wrapping it with cloth at the top, Huaisang takes it down with him to give him some light. Look, modern light sources aren't a thing he's figured out yet, so sue him. Though he sees something hanging from the ceiling and against his better judgement, reaches up to give it a pull... which has light flicking on above him on the ceiling. It looks like large fireflies if anything, even the light buzz of electricity as the lights come on help with the image. Transfixed for a moment he doesn't notice the absolute mess of things the light barely illuminates until a beat after. Mouth agape he'll descend the rest of the stairs, ignoring the creak of them and holding his makeshift torch in one hand and clutching his fan in the other.
Almost without realizing Huaisang finds himself in the middle of all of it, the mess, boxes and trinkets and so many things that he couldn't even begin to guess the use of, but he's transfixed on one thing. A bright yellow box sitting on a vanity that holds jewelry boxes and other things, but he'll hook his fan in his belt and with his free hand brush the layer of dust off the top of it.]
Augh-- ACHOO!
[If not for the amount of things surrounding him that would have echoed loudly. Waving his hand to try and shoo the dust away he'll then ease the box open, watching as a small figurine of what looks like a young girl raises up to start spinning slowly, a tune following her. The music is nothing he's heard before, quite foreign, but... but the soft calming tune is nice enough. So much so he finds himself rocking a bit on his heels as it goes on. The song goes on for a little bit, but ends soon enough. Frowning softly he'll set his torch aside so it doesn't light anything on fire, but so he can use both hands and picks the box up, looking it over, turning it this way and that.]
Is that it? I wonder how it works...
[It seems he's forgotten why he's come down here to look around at all. Whoops.]
